Church Avenue Rehabilitation

Description

Cost: $1.1 Million

Client: City of College Station

Team Leaders: Veronica Morgan

Mitchell & Morgan, LLP was responsible for the design of the rehabilitation of Church Avenue in College Station between College Main and Nagle. This included the rehabilitation of approximately 950 linear feet of Church Avenue, including pavement, decorative intersection treatments, stamped colored concrete sidewalks, storm drainage/inlets, and tree wells with street trees. This project was located in the Northgate Historical District of College Station and as such had to meet specific aesthetic guidelines. At the end of the project a TAS inspection revealed that the handicap ramps were constructed to an old standard that was applicable at the time of the original design. The project had been pulled off the shelf for construction after a 2-3 year delay, and the prior TAS review had shown the handicap ramps to be compliant. As a commitment to the project’s success, Mitchell & Morgan, LLP paid for the redesign and construction of the new ramps. This project completed construction in early 2009.
