Portfolio

Second Street Pedestrian Mall

This project converted the existing Second Street right-of-way into a pedestrian mall area. The project incorporated brick paver accents, landscaped areas, benches, historical lighting, public art display areas, and electrical and water connections for street parties and events. This project is located in the Northgate Historical District of College Station which has specific aesthetic design requirements.

Mitchell & Morgan, LLP was responsible for meeting all of these aesthetic guidelines in the design of the Second Street Promenade project. The base bid included stamped colored concrete plazas, planters, and public art areas. The bid package also included seven bid alternates including options for asphalt pavement, full depth asphalt pavement, the addition of the Northgate star in pavers, two alternate traffic control plans, banner poles, and the deletion of brick pavers. These bid alternates were provided to allow the City to select various aesthetic options while staying within the budget.
