The Southside System 'A' Rehabilitation project resulted from the findings in the Southside Drainage Master Plan. This Master Plan targeted drainage rehabilitation to correct flooding problems in the historical area of College Station. In January 2003 Mitchell & Morgan, LLP was retained to design street and drainage measures to correct localized flooding in the Southside area of College Station. This project included not only the rehabilitation of street and storm water systems but also the sanitary sewer and water lines as well. This project is the first of many to correct the deteriorating infrastructure and drainage problems in this area.
This 1st phase consisted of 350 LF of roadway improvements to regrade an area to allow positive drainage in backyards away from homes, 850 LF of storm sewer to increase the capacity of an undersized storm sewer system, 850 LF of 4' wide flume to establish positive drainage away from older homes, 1100 LF of sanitary sewer line and 1300 LF of water line to replace deteriorated infrastructure. Construction of this project was completed Spring 2004.
